SHARMILA’S JOURNEY

28-year-old Sharmila has been planning her wedding (in 2021), with a high level of determination to shed some pounds and burn off stubborn fat she has put on over years of indulging since she moved to Singapore, where food is abundant, available all around the clock and widely seen as a social activity.

With her long working hours and night shifts, lack of a regular sleeping pattern and mealtimes, Sharmila’s lifestyle took a huge toll on her body, having unhealthy eating habits and dwindling energy levels throughout the day. She often suffered from a lack of sleep and felt tired all the time. Having to keep herself up all night while working a security job meant snacking on things she could easily get a hold off like chips, chocolates, salty peanuts and other things lacking in good nutrition which were full of sodium or sugar and not the best fuel for the body. It was all about convenience and whatever could get her through her days (and nights). This led her to put on a lot of weight within a short span of time.

As Covid came about and pushed Sharmila’s 2020 wedding plans a year forward, she took a good look in the mirror and decided it was time to change her life around for the better. She saw the extra time she had as a blessing and started searching for the right personal trainer to set her on the right path to achieving her body goals and improve on her health and fitness levels. That’s when she found MSFIT.

When Sharmila first came to MSFIT, she had never stepped foot into a gym. She weighed 85kg and was physically unfit. She could barely perform a lunge or hold up her own weight in a plank. Instead of feeling discouraged, Sharmila saw this as a challenge for her to overcome. She worked hard, putting in the time and effort it took to become stronger and fitter, and closely followed the diet plan MSFIT customised for her. Instead of being fixated on her weight, Sharmila focused on her strength, how much better she was feeling daily, how much better she fit into her clothes, her increased vigour for life and how much happier she felt looking into the mirror.

In less than 3 months, Sharmila lost 10kg, dropping from 85kg to 75kg. She not only looks great, but feels amazing. The glow in her face is impossible to miss, and the changes she has been through motivates everyone around her. She has now fallen in love with weightlifting, and strength training has become her go-to in terms of keeping fit and staying fit.
