PRISCILLA’S JOURNEY

It’s been 8 years since I’ve been into fitness and personal wellness. This runs alongside 9 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry. Throughout this time, I’ve undergone several ups and downs.

My own experiences with restrictive eating habits, over-exercising, poor self-esteem and coming in and out of a hormonal mess has helped me identify them in others as well. Making relevant changes to my lifestyle boosted my confidence levels and made me realise the importance of making myself a priority. I felt that if I could be the voice of reason for someone else the way I wish I heard that voice, I could certainly make a difference in someone else’s life.

Getting fit and healthy does not have to be difficult. But guess what? Often times, it is.

Why is that?

Not only can it be hard to start something you’ve never done before or after falling off the bandwagon from something you’ve neglected, like a workout routine, but there are so much contradicting and conflicting information out there it can be frustrating and confusing what to do and what not to do.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Having been there myself, I understand what it’s like to have a fitness goal you so badly wanna hit (be it losing weight, getting back in shape postpartum, building up your strength, overcoming an injury, leading a healthier lifestyle, etc.) yet have no idea where to begin.

I struggled. I felt that I was all alone and the road to achieving my dream body seemed like the most treacherous one. I didn’t know what to do, and had stepped into a gym less than once in my life. The only thing I was familiar with was running. Yes I lost an ample amount of weight over the course of a year, but also a lot of muscle mass. I ate way too little, exercised way too much and felt my energy levels decline. My waist size went from 32 to 26 to 34 and continued yo-yo-ing for over 7 years.

Then came along an angel (who declines to be mentioned) who set me on the right track. I learnt about the benefits and beauty of strength training; of lifting weights. I discovered how much stronger I was than I gave myself credit for. I felt better than I ever had been and stopped focusing on how I looked but instead, how I felt. I stopped meticulously checking the scale and fussing about the numbers in front of me. I stopped caring about how the world saw me. I started caring about my own happiness and what made my life whole. This is when I started seeing actual results.

Many a time we are blinded by what life throws at us; how people see us, that we forget how much we actually mean to ourselves, and how important it is to take care of the body we were born with.

As a certified personal trainer, your trusted coach and friend, my duty is to enable you to bring out the best version of yourself. I am a strong believer in balance. It is the only way to be happy in life while achieving your goals!
